Abstract

With the continuous increase in mining depth,the risk of rock burst disasters has risen significantly,especially under the conditions of ultra-long working faces with thick and hard roof in the Mengshan area.In such settings,the roof is difficult to collapse in time,easily inducing fracture-type rock bursts that seriously threaten mine safety.To effectively reduce energy accumulation in the roof,we propose and apply an axial roof-cutting fracturing technology based on abrasive sand wa-ter jet.Industrial tests and effect evaluations were conducted targeting the lateral suspended roof structure of the thick and hard roof along the belt roadway of the 2202 working face in the Balasu Coal Mine.The results show that this technology can realize directional cutting and prefabricated fracturing in the thick and hard roof strata.Assisted by high-pressure water,the fractures can propagate and interconnect,effectively weakening roof integrity,inducing stable collapse,and significantly re-leasing high stress in the coal pillar ribs.During the fracturing process,adjacent boreholes and anchor cable areas showed obvious water outflow,and borehole imaging revealed well-developed prefabricated fractures.During mining,the surrounding rock stability of the roadway was enhanced,the working face end collapsed sufficiently,the coal wall was smooth,and the be-havior of mine pressure was mitigated.This study provides an efficient and controllable pressure-relief approach for manag-ing rock burst hazards in deep ultra-long working faces with thick and hard roof.
