Abstract
The Wengjiang river is a first-order tributary of the Beijiang river.In june 2022,a basin-wide flood occurred,resulting in the second-largest peak discharge since the establishment of the downstream control station.To further understand the flood formation and propagation mechanisms in the middle and lower reaches of the Wengjiang river basin and to enhance the level of flood and drought disaster prevention,the Guangzhou hydrology branch conducted a post-event flood investigation and analysis promptly after the disaster.Methods including short-duration storm extremum analysis,Pearson type Ⅲ frequency analysis,and comparative analysis were employed to analyze the spatiotemporal distribution,causes,and evolution patterns of this storm event,as well as the flood magnitude and return period.In response to the problems exposed by the"June 2022"flood in the Wengjiang river basin,countermeasures and suggestions are proposed,considering the current flood control system,which can provide a reference for future flood and drought management in the basin.关键词
