Abstract

China and Mongolia have respectively constructed railways to the vicinity of the Ganqimaodu Port and Gashuunsukhait Port.However,there is no railway between these two port stations yet.Mongolia plans to build a cross-border railway at Gashuunsukhait Port to connect with China's proposed Ganqimaodu port railway.This study conducted a qualitative analysis and techno-economic comparison of the main technical standards for the cross-border railway at Gashuunsukhait Port in Mongolia,proposing two overall layout plans:Option Ⅰ and Option Ⅱ.By using the weighted-TOPSIS method,the two options were compared,with Option Ⅱ showing the highest closeness to the optimal solution.Additionally,it maximized the use of existing infrastructure and proximity to the port's planned residential area.Therefore,Option Ⅱ was recommended as the preferred option,providing a reference for the construction of the cross-border railway at Gashuunsukhait Port and the planning of other port railways,contributing to the further improvement of transportation and trade infrastructure between China and Mongolia.
