Abstract

The effects of different degrees of desertification on the inorganic phosphorus(P)fractions of grassland soils were investigated,and the change characteristics of soil inorganic P fractions were examined.The desertified grasslands in the northwestern Liaoning province was employed as the research object and six sand addition levels[0%(control),10%,30%,50%,70%]were established to ascertain the changes in soil chemical properties(pH,DTPA-Fe and Mn,exchangeable Ca2+and Mg2+),soil inorganic phosphorus fractions[dicalcium phosphate(Ca2-P),octacalcium phosphate(Ca8-P),aluminum-bound phosphate(Al-P),iron-bound phosphate(Fe-P),dicalcium phosphate(Ca10-P),and occluded phosphate(O-P)],and soil available P under different sand addition levels.The results showed that sand addition increased soil pH,but significantly reduced soil DTPA-Fe,DTPA-Mn,exchangeable Ca2+,and exchangeable Mg2+contents.Compared to the control,the contents of soil Ca2-P,Fe-P,and O-P were reduced by 0.6%-26.6%,0.2%-16.3%and 6.6%-13.3%,as the percentage of sand in the soil increased,the contents of Ca8-P and Ca10-P were significantly increased by 0.2-7.6 mg·kg-1 and 8.8-59.9 mg·kg-1,respectively.Soil available P exhibited a marked decline with increasing sand addition.Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between soil available P and Ca2-P,and a significant negative relationship with Ca8-P and Ca10-P.The intensified desertification reduced the highly soluble Ca2-P content while increasing the less soluble Ca8-P and Ca10-P fractions,which were identified as key factors driving the decline in soil available P.The results of the study revealed the transformation process of soil inorganic phosphorus fractions in desertified grasslands and the key regulatory factors for the decrease of soil available phosphorus.
