Publishing and Circulation of TCM Books by Dadong Book Company during the Republic of China Period

Abstract
As the fourth largest private comprehensive publishing institution during the Republic of China period,Dadong Book Company(大东书局)made important contributions to the revitalization of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)and the publication of TCM monographs.Through sorting out the ancient TCM books published by Dadong Book Company during the Republic of China period,the study found that Dadong Book Company mainly published largescale medical series,as well as single volume editions such as ancient book reprints,ancient book additions,and new works,which specifically involved the integration of TCM and Western medicine,proved formula compilation,medical case compilation,health care,and ancient book organization.In terms of promotion and circulation,Dadong Book Company has adopted major strategies such as giving away samples,vigorously advertising,setting up convenient book purchasing channels,establishing extensive sales outlets,seeking official recommendations,and promoting library collections to expand the circulation of TCM books.The readership of the books has also expanded from TCM professionals to those in need in society,and the feedback and preface from readers have left a record of the acceptance of TCM books by Dadong Book Company,which has important historical value.关键词
