Study on the General Evolution of TCM Formulas:From the Origin of Classical Formulas to the Development of Contemporary Formulas
摘要
Abstract
By exploring the evolution of formulas throughout history,from the single herb prescription of"Shennong tasting a hundred herbs"to the compound formula of"Yi Yin using metaphors of decoctions of different flavors",it marked the first great leap in the history of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)application,laying a solid foundation for the formation of classical formulas.From the"Classical formulas"of the Han Dynasty to the"Contemporary formulas"of the Song,Jin,and Yuan periods,the development of formulas underwent a transformation from"simple to complex"to"broad to refined",and from"the uniqueness of classical formulas"to"a combination of classical and contemporary formulas".From the formulas for Shang Han(伤寒cold damage)to those for Wen Bing(温病warm diseases),the theoretical system of formula study was brought to perfection.Therefore,classical formulas are the source,with a clear origin,while contemporary formulas are the stream,a branch that flows long.A stream that never dries up because of its source,and only with a flowing stream can the"formulas"thrive endlessly.The development from classical formulas to contemporary formulas,as well as their integration,offers a glimpse into the magnificent historical panorama of TCM,allowing us to truly understand the origin and context of formula development.关键词
