Abstract
Pretreatment is a promising strategy for enhancing the anaerobic fermentation performance of sorghum straw.However,the effects and underlying mechanisms of synthetic microbiome pretreatment on the anaerobic fermentation of steam-exploded sorghum straw remain unclear.In this study,a steam-exploded sorghum straw,a by-product of liquor pro-duction,was pretreated with a self-constructed,highly efficient synthetic microbial consortium.We systematically analyzed its impact on anaerobic fermentation performance.The results demonstrated that the synthetic microbiome pretreatment led to significant advantages during the initial fermentation phase,including higher daily and cumulative methane yields,as well as distinct profiles of pH and volatile fatty acids(VFAs).Furthermore,Illumina high-throughput sequencing revealed sig-nificant differences in microbial community structure between the treated and control groups.Specifically,the relative abun-dances of the methanogenic archaea Methanosarcina and Methanobacterium were markedly higher in the experimental group.These findings not only provide a potential technical solution to mitigate the slow start-up issue commonly encountered in the anaerobic fermentation of sorghum straw but also offer a theoretical foundation for the biogas utilization of characteristic agri-cultural wastes,typified by distilled spirit sorghum straw,in regions such as Sichuan and Guizhou.关键词
