Abstract

In this study,the effects of different additions(0%,0.1%,1%and 5%)of Paenibacillus mucilaginosus liq-uid microbial agent on the maturation process and pollutant removal of compost were investigated using chicken manure and spent mushroom substrate as raw materials in an industrial-scale strip-stack composting system.The effects of bacterial agent additions on the composting effect were evaluated by monitoring the temperature,water content,pH,electrical conductivity(EC),organic matter,nitrogen form change,seed germination index(GI)and antibiotic degradation during the compos-ting process.The results showed that the addition of 1%inoculants(T2 treatment)significantly promoted the composting process,warmed the heap earlier(up to 50 ℃ on day 4),and extended the high temperature period to 32 d(5 d longer than the control).Meanwhile,the compost decayed best under this treatment,with seed germination index as high as 88.19%.In terms of pollutant removal,the 1%inoculants treatment was most effective in removing tetracyclines(93.33%degradation of Oxytetracycline)and sulphonamide antibiotics(98.57%degradation of Sulfadiazine).The present study confirmed that 1%addition of Paenibacillus mucilaginosus could optimise industrial composting efficiency and enhance pol-lutant removal,providing technical support for livestock and poultry manure resource utilization.
