Exploring the Pathogenesis of Autism in Children Based on the Theory of the Five Spirit-Storing Zang Organs

Abstract
The theory of the five spirit-storing zang organs,which originates from The Yellow Emperor's In-ner Canon,is a key embodiment of the TCM concept of the integration of the body and spirit.This theory sys-tematically elucidates the interdependent relationship between the five mental activities——spirit stored in the heart,ethereal soul stored in the liver,corporeal soul stored in the lung,thought stored in the spleen,and will stored in the kidney——and the physiological functions of the five zang organs.It serves as an important frame-work for clinical research on mental and neurological disorders.This article connects the pathological evolution of impaired functions of the five spirits with the emergence of the core and peripheral symptoms of autism,posit-ing that impairment of the five spirits is a significant internal pathological basis for autism.By pathologically in-terpreting the theory of the five spirit-storing zang organs,the aim is to integrate the complex symptom clusters exhibited by children with autism——such as impaired social interaction,decreased motor coordination,defi-cits in logical thinking,emotional disorders,and information processing difficulties——into an internally inter-connected TCM pathological network.This serves to explore its pathogenesis and lay a theoretical foundation for future research into TCM pattern identification and treatment strategies for autism from the perspective of regulating the five zang organs and calming and nourishing the five spirits.关键词
