Reproduction of Family Tradition and Reconstruction of Rural Ethical Order:An Ethnographic Study Based on Huizhou Traditional Villages

Abstract
In the modernization of traditional Chinese villages,family tradition(jiafeng),as the core component of rural ethical order,faces significant challenges in its reproduction amid institutional,spatial,and intergenerational tensions.Based on the ethnographic fieldwork conducted in several traditional villages in Huizhou region,this paper systematically examines the historical foundation of jiafeng,which originated within the clan system and was embedded into daily life through mechanisms like family precepts and rules as well as spatial rituals.With the decline of clan organizations,the miniaturization of families and the promotion of cultural tourism,the functions of jiafeng have tended toward superficialization,weakening and even disruption.In response,some traditional villages have sought to revitalize jiafeng through spatial reconstruction,institutional translation,and innovative dissemination,thereby laying a practical foundation for the modern reconstruction of the village ethical order.This paper holds that the reproduction of jiafeng is not only an inherent driving force for the modernization of rural ethics,but also a key path for fostering cultural consciousness and promoting social integration at the local level,which provides valuable insights for cultural revitalization and governance modernization of China's rural society.关键词
