Fuzzy Sliding Mode Controller for Brushless DC Motor Based on Improved Exponential Reaching Law

Abstract
During the speed control process of a brushless DC motor,the traditional sliding mode control utilizing an exponential reaching law exhibits shortcomings such as suboptimal dynamic response in the reaching phase,a decrease in convergence rate as the system trajectory approaches the sliding surface,and chattering phenomena induced by its discontinuous switching characteristics,all of which constrain control accuracy.To address these issues,a fuzzy sliding mode controller for permanent magnet brushless DC motors based on an improved exponential reaching law is designed.This controller replaces the traditional exponential reaching law with an improved one and incorporates fuzzy control to enhance the adaptive capability of the sliding mode controller.Subsequently,a fuzzy sliding mode controller is designed for the speed loop,while a super-twisting sliding mode controller is employed for the current loop to regulate the current,further improving the system's robustness.Simulation and experimental results indicate that,compared to traditional sliding mode controllers and PI controllers,this fuzzy sliding mode controller achieves better control performance in terms of motor speed overshoot,steady-state speed fluctuation,and speed fluctuation following sudden load changes,offering a new solution to enhance the control performance of brushless DC motors.关键词
