Abstract

To address the issue of incomplete channel modeling in existing studies on cross-medium"air-ground-sea"relay communications,this paper analyzes the outage probability performance analysis of a hybrid dual-hop free space optical(FSO)-underwater wireless optical communication(UWOC)system under decode-and-forward(DF)relaying.By constructing com-posite channel models incorporating Gamma-Gamma atmospheric turbulence,generalized Gamma(GGD)underwater turbu-lence,pointing errors,and path loss,closed-form expressions for the system outage probability and its high-signal-to-noise ra-tio asymptotic solutions are derived using Meijer-G functions.Simulation results demonstrate that intensified atmospheric tur-bulence significantly increases the outage probability,with pointing errors exhibiting a more pronounced impact than turbu-lence effects.Increasing the FSO link distance consistently degrades performance,whereas the influence of the UWOC link dis-tance diminishes at high SNR.Heterodyne detection consistently outperforms intensity modulation/direct detection(IM/DD).The theoretical results show strong agreement with simulations,validating the correctness of the proposed model.
