摘要

Abstract

To investigate the influence of microstructure evolution in thin-layer aluminum-magnesium alloy components fabricated by arc additive manufacturing on their mechanical properties,a double pulse MIG arc additive manufacturing process was used to produce 5356 aluminum-magnesium alloy specimens,with overlapping ratios set at 0.30,0.35 and 0.40 respectively.Macroscopic morphology and microstructure were analyzed,and mechanical properties were evaluated through tensile testing and microhardness measurements.The results show that at an overlapping ratio of 0.30,the deposited layer exhibits high flatness and strong adhesion to the substrate.Tensile strength remains consistent(266.09 MPa in the horizontal direction and 264.66 MPa in the vertical welding direction),with an elongation of 28%,demonstrating no significant mechanical anisotropy.As the overlapping ratio increases,the region characterized by algae-like grains in the vertical welding direction progressively expands.These grains form due to cyclic thermal input causing mutual obstruction and irregular growth of cellular crystals,leading to increased porosity,reduced mechanical performance,and pronounced anisotropy.At an overlapping ratio of 0.35,the bonding between deposited layer and substrate remains relatively stable;However,at an overlapping ratio of 0.40,defects such as incomplete substrate melting and interlayer gaps are more likely to occur.Therefore,it is concluded that the optimal overlapping ratio for unidirectional multi-pass single-layer deposition of 5356 Al-Mg alloy is 0.30.This parameter effectively suppresses the formation of algae-like grains and enhances both forming quality and mechanical properties of Al-Mg alloy.
