Abstract

In order to explore the spatiotemporal evolution of drought and flood characteristics in Fuyang City in recent years,this paper used monthly precipitation data from 27 rainfall stations in Fuyang City from 1969 to 2023.The standardized precipitation index and the Mann-Kendall test were employed to analyze changes in drought and flood characteristics at both annual and seasonal scales.The results showed that drought and flood occurred frequently in Fuyang City over the past 55 years.On an annual scale,there was a tendency towards more floods.Among the four seasons,only spring showed a non-significant trend towards drought,while other seasons showed a non-significant trend towards more floods.Overall,the frequency of droughts was higher than that of floods in Fuyang City.The southern region was more prone to severe droughts and floods.The frequency of drought and flood disasters in autumn and winter was relatively higher than that in spring and summer.The central and northern parts of Fuyang City showed a stronger tendency towards more floods.In the western region,there was a significant trend of changing from drought to flood at the transition from spring to summer.In the eastern region,there was a significant trend of changing from flood to drought at the transition from winter to spring.The research results would provide a reference for flood and drought disaster prevention and rational development and utilization of water resources in Fuyang City.
