Abstract

Currently,there are few large motors exceeding 300 kW that use cast-resin technology for starting autotransformers.A design concept for cast-resin dry-type starting autotransformer is proposed to address the temperature rise issue,design principles and key technologies are explained.Based on the special operating conditions,the losses and impedances are calculated based on the leakage magnetic field distribution,and simulated using Maxwell electromagnetic method;a temperature rise test plan is designed around the key parameter"coil temperature rise",thermal insulation system,conductor thermal conductivity,and insulation material thermal conductivity are taken into account.Multiple field coupling simulations are conducted using Fluent in simulation.The results indicate that the calculated load loss is slightly higher than the simulation value,and the simulated temperature rise is slightly lower than the calculated value,meeting the requirements of engineering applications.Differences and causes among tests,operation,simulation and calculation are discussed.The proposed ideas can serve as a reference for designing dry-type starting autotransformer.
