Abstract

Analysis is carried out on the transformer fault of a certain wind turbine generator unit.On-site inspection of the transformer cabinet,its interior,the auxiliary transformer circuit breaker,and the cooling system ruled out the possibilities of oil leakage and foreign objects.Appearance inspection on winding discharge and ablation locates the fault at terminals 5 and 8 of the W-phase high-voltage winding.The qualified test results of the U-phase and V-phase windings further verify the W-phase winding fault.Through the single-phase transformation ratio,DC resistance test and data analysis,it is determined that the large current generated by the inter-phase short circuit led to the action of the arc protection.After disassembling the winding,it is found that the short circuiting piece of terminals 5 and 8 of the W-phase is a round-cornered copper busbar,resulting in insufficient contact area and increased resistance.At the same time,the bolts might not have been tightened,causing overheating.The high temperature melts the welding point of terminal 5.And the potential difference causes an arc short-circuit to occur,which intensifies the melting of the epoxy resin and ultimately leads to equipment damage.Preventive measures are proposed such as standardizing the installation and tightening of short-circuiting pieces,optimizing the selection of accessories and quality control,and strengthening the operation and maintenance monitoring throughout the life cycle,which can provide experience for subsequent equipment maintenance and fault prevention.
