摘要

Abstract

[Objective]Root plasticity is an important strategy for rice to cope with low phosphorus stress,but the response of root morphology and exudates to low phosphorus mediated by light intensity is still unclear.[Method]To elucidate cultivar differences in P efficiency under the interaction of light intensity and P availability,this study compared the low P-tolerant cultivar Dalidao and the P-susceptible cultivar Sanbaili,systematically analyzing their responses in root architecture,P absorption and accumulation,and root exudation patterns.[Result]The results revealed that:(1)Under normal light and low P conditions,the low P-tolerant cultivar Dalidao exhibited significantly enhanced root growth compared to that of the susceptible cultivar.Under low light intensity conditions,the photosynthesis of the plant was restricted,thereby leading to impaired root growth.(2)Under low phosphorus conditions,the root length and root surface areas of large-grain rice both increased;whereas the root length,root surface areas,root volumes,and the number of roots of Sanbaili were significantly reduced.This indicated that there were significant differences in the root system architecture responses to low phosphorus stress among different rice varieties.(3)The number of root exudates induced under normal light intensity was significantly higher than that under low light intensity.The normal light with low P treatment triggered the highest number of differential exudates,totaling 117,highlighting the crucial role of light intensity in regulating root exudation patterns.(4)Lipids and amino acids may play key roles in plant adaptation to low P stress and variations in light intensity.[Conclusion]Low-phosphorus-tolerant rice varieties have significant advantages in the root system growth and morphology.Their specific root exudates may be one of the main evolutionary strategies for coping with low phosphorus stress.This study will provide theoretical support for the breeding of low-phosphorus-tolerant rice.
