Biocontrol stability and growth-promoting effects of Bacillus cereus G5 on Meloidogyne graminicola

Abstract
[Objective]This study aimed to determine the biocontrol stability against Meloidogyne graminicola and the plant growth-promoting characteristics of Bacillus cereus G5 after storage at different temperatures,so as to provide a basis for developing microbial agents for root-knot nematode control.[Method]The growth-promoting traits of strain G5 were detected to analyze its potential for enhancing plant growth.After 90 days of storage at 4℃and 25℃respectively,the survival rate of viable bacteria in the fermentation broth and its lethal activity against the second-stage juveniles(J2)of M.graminicola were determined.Rice seedling experiments and pot trials in a green-house were conducted to verify the disease control and growth-promoting effects of the stored fermentation broth.[Result]Strain G5 could secrete various growth-promoting substances and exhibited potassium-solubilizing ability.After 90 days of storage,the survival rates of viable bacteria in the fermentation broth were 82.5%at 4℃and 70.0%at 25℃.A fumigation mortality rate of over 91.7%against J2 juveniles was observed with the 10-fold dilution of the fermentation broth,and a contact mortality rate exceeding 95.8%was observed with the supernatant.The stored fermentation broth provided a control efficacy of 47.62%-52.38%against rice root-knot nematode disease,and so significantly promoted the growth of rice plants.[Conclusion]Bacillus cereus G5 demonstrates good biocontrol stability and plant growth-promoting effects,showing great potential for developing as an efficient microbial agent against root-knot nematodes.关键词
