Research trends in inter-hospital transfer of adult critically ill patients:1998-2025

Abstract
Objective To understand the research status,research hotspots and trends of inter-hospital transport of adult critically ill patients at home and abroad,and to provide reference for clinical practice and research.Methods Literature on inter-hospital transfer of adult critically ill patients was retrieved from Web of Science,China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Wanfang Database,VIP Database and Chinese Medical Journal Database.The retrieval time limit was from the inception of the databases to June 30,2025,and the data were analyzed using CiteSpace 6.3.R1.Results A total of 1,161 articles were collected,including 919 articles in English and 242 in Chinese.Keyword co-occurrence analysis showed that current studies mainly focused on acute ischemic stroke,nursing quality,influencing factors,adverse events,patient outcome and mortality.Keyword clustering showed that the research hotspots were transfer nursing quality,inter-hospital transfer outcome of specific diseases,ECMO-supported patient transfer and air transfer.Conclusion Research on inter-hospital transport of adult critically ill patients is in a rapid development stage and there is a gap between domestic and foreign studies.Researchers should explore clinical needs on the basis of current research,establish spe-cialized inter-hospital transfer teams,standardize transfer process and improve the quality of inter-hospital transfer of critically ill pa-tients in China.关键词
