Beliefs in Deities,Marine Practice,Livelihood Adaptation
摘要
Abstract
In the process of maritime practice and livelihood adaptation of fishermen group in the South China Sea islands, the beliefs in deities constitute a core cultural mechanism. This belief system, grounded in the organic integra-tion of material, spiritual, and social elements, enables fishermen to develop a comprehensive set of strategies to adapt to marine nature and social risks:it not only consolidates the cooperation and mutual assistance relationship between fish-ermen through the construction of socio-cultural networks but also enhances the resilience of fishermen group in coping with marine environmental risks through cultural practices such as rituals, spatial arrangements, and legends.Under the condition that the country's maritime administrative capacity has not yet been fully covered, beliefs in deities not only reconcile the conflicts caused by fishermen's struggle for land and seafood, but also help them resist foreign economic plunder and squeeze of the living space in both discourse and practice since modern times. Thus,by inheriting folk ex-perience and fostering cultural consensus, beliefs in deities enable fishermen to play a complementary role in safeguard-ing national maritime rights and interests.关键词
