Construction and application of the ideological system of harmony in the Yellow Emperor's Canon of Medicine(黄帝内经)

Abstract
Taking the Yellow Emperor's Canon of Medicine(黄帝内经)as the core of research,this study systematically traces the cul-tural foundations and theoretical lineage of the harmony concept in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Our study reveals that the philosophical origins of harmony in TCM are based on the following three theoretical pillars:the Confucian ethical notion of achieving equilibrium and harmony,the Daoist cosmological principle of blending qi to attain harmony,as well as the body-spirit symbiotic system,which was creatively transformed by the Yellow Emperor's Canon of Medicine into the concept of correspondence between human-ity and nature as a reflection of life's rhythms,the dynamic harmony embodied in the theories of yin-yang and the five elements,and the holistic system of unity of body,qi,and spirit.The ideological system of harmony is manifested in treatment principles that regard har-mony as the guiding norm,therapeutic methods that employ harmony as the core strategy,and health-preserving practices that aim at harmony as the ultimate goal.This forms a unique paradigm that distinguishes TCM from allopathic medicine.The clinical application of the harmony framework involves diagnosing the loss of harmony,harmony and disharmony.It is of significant guiding value to establish clinical reasoning in TCM via inheriting and innovating the ideological system of harmony in the Yellow Emperor's Canon of Medicine,and then summarize and promote this conceptual framework.关键词
