Development and reliability and validity testing of a knowledge,attitude,and practice questionnaire on home enteral nutrition for primary caregivers of patients with severe traumatic brain injury

Abstract
Objective:To compile a knowledge,attitude,and practice questionnaire on home enteral nutrition for primary caregivers of patients with severe traumatic brain injury and test its reliability and validity.Methods:Based on the method of literature review,clinical nursing practice and expert consultation,the first draft of the questionnaire on home enteral nutrition for primary caregivers of patients with severe traumatic brain injury was prepared based on the theory of knowledge,attitude and practice.A total of 20 primary caregivers of severe brain injury patients who underwent home enteral nutrition in neurosurgery were selected by convenience sampling method for pre-survey and modification of the questionnaire.A total of 220 primary caregivers of severe brain injury patients with home enteral nutrition in neurosurgery in a grade A tertiary hospital in Nantong were included by convenience sampling to test the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.Results:The final questionnaire included knowledge,attitude and practice,with a total of 40 items.The overall Cronbach's α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.993.The Cronbach's α coefficients for the individual dimensions were 0.993,0.919,and 0.977,respectively,and the test-retest reliability coefficients for the dimensions were 0.943,0.901,and 0.967,respectively.The content validity index at the item level was 0.8～1.0,and the content validity index of the questionnaire was 0.968.Conclusion:The knowledge,attitude,and practice questionnaire on home enteral nutrition for primary caregivers of patients with severe traumatic brain injury has good reliability and validity,and can be used in clinical practice.关键词
