Bilingual control mechanism in voluntary language switching
摘要
Abstract
Voluntary language switching refers to the language switching that occurs spontaneously among bilinguals.Voluntary language switching incurs lower costs than forced switching,especially when driven by bottom-up lexical access or in contexts offering greater freedom of choice.Neuroimaging studies suggest that voluntary switching involves reduced engagement of the inhibitory control network compared to forced switching,and additionally recruits brain mechanisms related to self-generated intentions.The bilingual control mechanism in voluntary switching is closely related to second language proficiency,context,and individual executive control ability.Future research on voluntary language switching should integrate individual and contextual factors to develop refined and dynamic models.It should also combine real-world behavioral patterns with laboratory measures to deepen the investigation of the underlying neural mechanisms,while conducting longitudinal studies and paying attention to production-comprehension interactions.Such efforts may facilitate the transformation of voluntary language switching into cognitive benefits and effective learning.关键词
