Abstract

To analyze the influence of various non-midplane symmetry factors on tubesheet design,the unified theory of tubesheet design was adopted to systematically sort out 30 non-midplane symmetry factors and conduct comparative analysis with existing theories.At the same time,numerous ambiguous viewpoints caused by deficiencies in existing theories were clarified.Computational comparison and analysis show that the predictions of the unified theory for"non-midplane symmetric"heat exchangers(including gravity and pressure drop loads)are in good agreement with the results of finite element analysis.Compared with existing theories,the unified theory greatly expands its scope of application and provides a solid theoretical foundation for the design of fixed-tubesheet,floating-head,and U-tube heat exchangers subjected to complex loadings.
