摘要

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of Chinese medicine(CM)interventions for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)in Hunan Province,identify core medicinal combinations,and provide a data foundation for developing medicine-food homologous products for the full-cycle intervention of COVID-19.Methods Moderate cases of COVID-19 treated at four large tertiary hospitals in Hunan Province were collected.Based on the presence or absence of CM treatment,the patients were divided into a non-CM treatment group and a CM treatment group for prognosis comparison.For the CM treatment group,SPSS 26.0 was used to conduct frequency analysis,frequent itemset mining,and association rule visualization of the prescribed medicines,aiming to identify effective prescriptions.Results At discharge,the effective rate was 95.09%(2713/2853)in the non-CM treatment group and 94.50%(1151/1218)in the CM treatment group,with no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).The CM treatment group effectively reduced the length of hospital stay(P<0.05)and significantly lowered the rate of progression to severe disease(P<0.01).Analysis of medication patterns identified the high-frequency herbs as Fuling(Poria)(532 times),Fabanxia(Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum)(490 times),and Chenpi(Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium)(428 times).The core medicinal combinations were Chenpi(Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium)+Fabanxia(Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum),Fuling(Poria)+Fabanxia(Pinelliae Rhizoma Praeparatum),and Fuling(Poria)+Chenpi(Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium),which constitute the core components of the classical formula Erchen Decoction.Conclusion The application of Chinese medicine can shorten the course of COVID-19 and promote patient recovery.Integrating the identified core medicinal combinations with the theory of medicine and food homology to develop Chinese herbal teas holds significant theoretical and clinical value.This approach is particularly meaningful for restoring lung and spleen function and eliminating residual pathological factors(e.g.,phlegm-dampness)in patients recovering from COVID-19.
