A Validation Study of the Effectiveness of Virtual Reality-based Test Anxiety Evocation

Abstract
Objective:Based on the situational trait nature of test anxiety,and in order to research the test anxiety more efficiently in clinical experimental research,this study aims to propose an induction method that creates a virtual test envi-ronment based on virtual reality technology and to verify its effectiveness.Methods:A test situation was constructed through virtual reality technology,73 college students with high test anxiety were selected to enter the situation to complete the test,and a test stress coaching language group was set up to compare with a control group to examine the changes in trait test anxiety,state test anxiety,and galvanic skin data before and after the students experienced the test.Results:Subjects experiencing the virtual exam situation had progressively higher levels of galvanic skin levels in the preparation and exam phases,and peaked in the exam phase.Compared to the test stress coaching language and control group,state test anxiety and galvanic skin levels were significantly higher in subjects experiencing the virtual test situation(P<0.01).Conclusion:Virtual reality-based test situations can effectively induce emotional responses in students with high test anxiety and can serve as an effective test anxiety elicitation paradigm.关键词
