Exploring the Value of Learning:Development of the Adolescent Learning Meaning Scale

Abstract
Objective:This study aimed to develop and validate the adolescent learning meaning scale.Methods:Based on a review of relevant literature,an initial pool of 23 items was developed through open-ended questionnaire sur-veys and expert evaluation.A pilot study was conducted with 372 adolescents from five primary and secondary schools in Shaanxi and Ningxia,and item analysis and exploratory factor analysis were used to remove items that did not meet the crite-ria.Subsequently,confirmatory factor analysis was performed using a sample of 452 adolescents from Shaanxi,Ningxia,and Guizhou.Results:The adolescent learning meaning scale was found to have a four-factor structure,comprising future value of learning,confusion about learning meaning,self-growth in learning,and sense of achievement in learning.The model demonstrated good fit indices.Strong associations emerged between the scale's dimensions and both learning motiva-tion and life meaning.The Cronbach's α coefficient for the overall scale was 0.82.Conclusion:The adolescent learning meaning scale demonstrates good reliability and validity,making it a useful tool for assessing adolescents' sense of learning meaning.关键词
