Abstract

'Zheshu 937'is a new mid-early maturing table potato variety co-developed by the Jinhua Academy of Agriculture and Sciences and Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences,with the early-maturing and high-quality variety'Favorita'as the female parent,and a mixture of pollen from the early-maturing and high-yielding varieties'Zhongshu 3'and'Zhongshu 9'as the male parent through sexual hybridization.It was registered by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in March 2023,with the registration number GDP Potato(2023)330009.This variety has a growth period of 72 days,with semi-upright plant habit,a plant height of 52.9 cm,green leaves,green stem and medium-length stolons.It has a low natural fruiting rate,with 3.7 main stems per plant and 7.2 tubers per plant.The tubers are short oval-shaped,with yellow skin and yellow flesh,smooth skin,and shallow eyes.In Zhejiang Province adaptability trials,it gave an average yield of 33859 kg/ha,which was 22.2%higher than the control variety'Zhongshu 3'from 2019 to 2020.Its tuber contains dry matter of 21.0 g/100 g,starch of 13.7 g/100 g,protein of 2.24 g/100 g,vitamin C of 33.6 mg/100 g,and reducing sugar of 0.16 g/100 g.The taste is excellent.It is moderately susceptible to late blight,but moderately resistant to potato virus X(PVX)and potato virus Y(PVY).After years of multi-site adaptability testing and demonstration,'Zheshu 937'has proven suitable for spring cultivation in Zhejiang Province.
