Discussion on meridian and collateral theory:Thoughts on the theoretical paradigms of traditional acupuncture and moxibustion

Abstract
The meridian and collateral theory serves as the fundamental basis of the traditional acupuncture and moxibustion system,playing a crucial role in guiding the clinical application of these practices.However,its scientific significance remains inadequately elucidated.In light of the ongoing modernization of traditional Chinese medicine,elucidating the scientific underpinnings of meridian and collateral through contemporary research becomes a pivotal undertaking.This step is essential for overcoming the current challenges faced by acupuncture and moxibustion and establishing a contemporary framework for these therapeutic modalities.This paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the origin,establishment,and modern research of the meridian and collateral theory.It delves into the characteristics and background of the formation and development of this theory.Furthermore,it highlights the key theoretical paradigm of traditional acupuncture and moxibustion,namely the five body constituents diagnosis and treatment,meridian and collateral theory,and traditional Chinese medicine theory.Additionally,the paper examines this theoretical paradigm through the lens of modern medicine,emphasizing the significance of clarifying the boundaries between these three parts and establishing the moderm theoretical paradigm of acupuncture and moxibustion.关键词
