Abstract

[Objective]To reveal the spatiotemporal distribution patterns and primary driving mechanisms of dissolved organic matter(DOM)in Zhanjiang Bay across different seasons,and to clarify the integrated effects of terrestrial inputs and biological processes on DOM dynamics.[Method]The seawater in Zhanjiang Bay during summer and winter was conducted on-site,and its physicochemical parameters and nutrient indicators were measured.The characteristics of DOM components in seawater were analyzed using excitation-emission matrix(EEM)fluorescence spectroscopy coupled with parallel factor analysis(PARAFAC),and the correlations between DOM and environmental factors were explored through principal component analysis(PCA).[Results]The upper bay of Zhangjiang Bay was significantly influenced by riverine inputs,characterized by low salinity and enrichment of nutrients and humic-like DOM,while the lower bay was regulated by external seawater intrusion with enhanced autochthonous DOM signals.DOM fluorescence intensity showed significant negative correlations with salinity in both seasons(r2=0.836 in summer,and r2=0.972 in winter,P<0.01),indicating that its spatiotemporal variations were primarily driven by terrestrial inputs and hydrodynamic conditions.DOM dynamics were co-driven by phytoplankton production and microbial degradation processes in summer,whereas they were predominantly controlled by physical mixing processes in winter.[Conclusion]The spatiotemporal dynamics of DOM in Zhanjiang Bay exhibit a dual-driving characteristic of"terrestrial dominance-biological process synergy".Terrestrial inputs determine the overall DOM distribution pattern,while biological and hydrodynamic processes collectively shape its transformation and transport mechanisms across different seasons.
