Abstract
This study addresses the challenge of treating refractory industrial wastewater containing long-chain alkanols,characterized by high biotoxicity,relative nutrient deficiency,and poor biodegradability,mak-ing it difficult to undergo biochemical treatment.Based on an exploration of the mechanism of UV photocatalytic oxidation for treating such wastewater,this study explored the feasibility and optimized the process of a medium-pressure UV process employing a hydrogen peroxide/iron salt system to treat tert-butanol(TBA)wastewater.The effects of reaction time,catalyst dosage,and oxidant dosage on Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD)removal efficiency were compared.Optimal operating conditions were determined,achieving COD reduction from over 2×104 mg/L to below 60 mg/L.This treatment meets the influent requirements for subsequent biological treat-ment facilities,demonstrating the advantages of this process:environmental friendliness,operational simplicity,high treatment efficiency,and low capital and operating costs.Building upon these results,direct investment and operational cost estimates were calculated.A wastewater treatment facility for 10 t/d of tert-butanol-contai-ning wastewater is projected to require approximately 200×104 yuan in direct investment,with a treatment cost of about 200 yuan per ton of wastewater.This work lays a foundation for subsequent scale-up applications.关键词
