Abstract

[Objective]It is to study the geographical differences and phenotypic trait diversity of Os-manthus fragrans provenances,grasp their variation patterns,and provide a theoretical basis for biodiver-sity conservation,germplasm identification,and resource utilization.[Method]Comparisons were made among 15 communities from 5 provenance sites in Hunan Province.Multi-site mixed sampling was used to calculate correlation indices,detect diversity levels,and conduct diversity analysis,correlation analy-sis,and cluster analysis to explore their differentiation degree.[Result](1)The phenotypic variation coefficient of leaves ranged from 0.17%to 55.78%,with a mean of 7.50%,with the smallest mean in Chenzhou(5.94%)and the largest mean in Changsha(10.20%).(2)The phenotypic variation coeffi-cient of fruits and seeds ranged from 0.63%to 23.92%,with a mean of 8.21%.The smallest mean was in Changsha(5.43%)and the largest mean was in Hengyang(9.88%).(3)Leaf phenotype:Leaf fresh weight was significantly positively correlated with altitude,annual precipitation,and soil moisture content(P<0.01),and was significantly negatively correlated with annual average sunshine duration and latitude(P<0.01).Specific leaf weight was significantly positively correlated with latitude and annual average sunshine duration(P<0.01),and was significantly positively correlated with annual average temperature(P<0.05)and significantly negatively correlated with altitude(P<0.05).Leaf area was significantly positively correlated with soil moisture content(P<0.01).Leaf circumference was signifi-cantly negatively correlated with altitude(P<0.05).Leaf length was significantly negatively correlated with annual average temperature(P<0.05).Longitude was significantly positively correlated with leaf shape index and morphological factors(P<0.01).Fruit and seed phenotype:Fruit shape index and fruit specific gravity were both significantly positively correlated with altitude(P<0.01),and were signifi-cantly positively correlated with annual average temperature and significantly negatively correlated with longitude(P<0.05),respectively.Hundred-seed weight was significantly positively correlated with tem-perature(P<0.05),seed length was significantly negatively correlated with longitude(P<0.05),and the mean of the three dimensions was significantly negatively correlated with temperature(P<0.01).(4)The cumulative contribution rate of principal components of leaf traits was 85.2%;leaf length,leaf width,leaf area,and leaf perimeter showed a positive correlation,and the cumulative contribution rate of principal components of osmanthus fruits and seeds was 86.7%.Seed lateral diameter,seed transverse diameter,fruit specific gravity,hundred seed weight,and hundred fruit weight showed a positive correla-tion.(5)When the Euclidean distance was 6,osmanthus was clustered into two groups:the first group included provenances from Yueyang,Changsha,Zhuzhou,and Chenzhou,and the second group included provenances from Hengyang.[Conclusion]Comprehensive analysis showed that leaf area,leaf fresh weight,and specific leaf weight are the best indicators for detecting phenotypic traits of osmanthus;leaf thickness has strong genetic stability and is minimally affected by environmental stress.In terms of phenotypic traits of fruits and seeds,seed lateral diameter,seed transverse diameter,fruit specific gravity,hundred seed weight,and hundred fruit weight play a dominant role,while environmental factors show significant correlation with phenotypic traits of fruits and seeds.
