Numerical Simulation and Optimization of Guide Vane Structural Parameters in the Primary Extractor of a Sugarcane Harvester

Abstract

The impurity removal fan was the key component of the segmented sugarcane harvester,and its performance di-rectly affected the working efficiency of the whole machine.Taking the impurity removal fan of Liugong S718A sugarcane harvester as the research object,the finite element model of the impurity removal fan was established by fan test,reverse modeling and CFD numerical simulation.The number of first-stage guide vanes(N1),the number of second-stage air guide groove(N2)and the axial spacing(L)were taken as the main factors,and the maximum at the outlet of the fan wind speed(v)and total pressure efficiency(η)were taken as the indexes.The structural parameters of the air duct were optimized by single factor analysis and response surface method.Firstly,the single factor analysis was used to deter-mine the optimal performance of the fan when the first-stage guide vanes(N1)was 4-6,the second-stage air guide groove(N2)was 6-8,and the axial spacing(L)was 30-50 mm.Subsequently,response surface analysis was employed to solve the optimal method,and the optimal parameter combination was further obtained:the number of primary air ducts was 4,the number of secondary air ducts was 7,and the axial spacing was 30 mm.The numerical simulation validation showed that the optimized extractor improved the maximum outlet wind speed(v)by 8.86%and the total pressure effi-ciency(η)by 8.39%compared to the original fan.The optimized maximum outlet wind speed(v)reached 34.85 m/s,and the total pressure efficiency(η)was 69.89%.The verification test results showed that the error between the simula-ted and measured values of outlet wind speed,flow rate and power were less than 10%,and the numerical simulation method had high accuracy.
