摘要

Abstract

An investigation and analysis are conducted on an explosion fault of an unbalanced current transformer in a 66 kV shunt capacitor bank at a 500 kV substation.Through fault recording analysis,high-voltage testing of capacitors,and real-time digital simulator(RTDS)testing,the behavior and causes of the protection operation are analyzed.It is revealed that the cause of the fault is an interturn short circuit within the capacitor discharge coil,causing a short circuit in the capacitor bridge arm and subsequent explosion of the unbalanced current transformer.The investigation also points out an inappropriate selection of the unbalanced current transformer for the affected capacitor bank.The result verifies that the effectiveness of the simulation experiment and recommended explicitly defining technical parameter requirements in the technical specification document for future current transformer selection.
