Study on the Cenozoic sedimentary systems and evolutionary patterns at the southeastern margin of the Tarim basin
摘要
Abstract
The southeastern margin of the Tarim basin is an important component of the Tarim Basin(the largest inland oil and gas-bearing basin in China),where a complex tectonic-sedimentary system developed during the Cenozoic, however the related research remains relatively weak.To reveal the sedimentary evolution history of this area and guide resource exploration, this study, based on field geological investigations and combined with seismic data interpretation, well data comparison, and sediment provenance analysis, discussed the spatio-temporal distribution characteristics and evolutionary patterns of the Cenozoic sedimentary system in the southeastern margin of the Tarim basin. The research shows that the Cenozoic sedimentary system in this area presents a"two depressions and one uplift"structural pattern. The Paleogene is dominated by alluvial fan-alluvial plain-delta-lake deposits, while the Neogene develops alluvial fan-alluvial plain braided river sedimentary systems. The Qarqan fault,North-West Kunlun fault, and North Altun fault controlled basin subsidence, material source input, and sedimentary cycles, influencing the migration of sedimentary centers and lithological combinations. The research findings contribute to revealing the geological evolution history of the basin and provide theoretical support for the comprehensive resource exploration in the southeastern Tarim region.关键词
