Abstract

The Tamusu uranium deposit is a recently discovered super-large uranium deposit in the Yingen-Ejin basin,characterized by complex metallogenesis,with the role of organic matter in the mineralization process remaining unclear.This study focuses on the organic matter within the ore-bearing sandstones,employing integrated organic petrography,spectroscopy,and geochemistry to determine the types,properties,sources of organic matter,and their role in uranium mineralization.Results indicate that the organic matter comprises two main types:syngenetic solid carbonaceous debris and later-stage mobile"soluble"organic matter.The carbonaceous debris originated from terrigenous higher plants during the deposition of the Early Cretaceous Bayingebi formation.In contrast,the soluble organic matter was primarily derived from lower aquatic organisms(e.g.algae),formed in a saline,strongly reducing lacustrine to paralic environment,and has reached a mature evolutionary stage,having undergone significant biodegradation.Soluble organic fluids originated from deep source rocks beneath ore-bearing strata.Microscale evidence,such as the coexistence of pyrite,carbonaceous material(soluble organic matter),and carbonate minerals within fluid inclusions in quartz grains,along with observed organic matter-clay-uraninite micro-composites,provides direct evidence for the co-migration of soluble organic matter and metallogenic components.Organic matter played multiple crucial roles in the mineralization process:acting as a"source",a"reducing agent",a"transport medium",and a"barrier".
