Abstract

Traditional roller-compacted concrete(RCC)dams in steep terrain and high-temperature environments face problems such as low concrete placing efficiency(<50 m3/h),aggregate segregation(coefficient of variation>0.25)and frequent temperature cracks.To address these issues under complex topographic conditions,a full belt continuous conveying system was developed based on the RCC dam project of the Lower Kafue Gorge Hydropower Station in Zambia,which was constrained by the 45° steep slope on the right bank.The system is composed of a dynamic rotary distributing device(with a swing radius of 30 m),a multi-stage buffer guiding system(with a speed reduction ratio of 1∶2.5)and an intelligent spray temperature control module(with temperature difference controlled≤3℃).The results show that this system achieves a concrete conveying intensity of 280 m3/h,reduces the fluctuation range of concrete placing temperature by 65%compared with traditional methods,and shortens the construction period by 22%.The research findings provide a quantifiable innovative solution for the construction of 200-meter-level high roller-compacted dams.
