Abstract
Transfusion transmission of emerging and re-emerging pathogens remains a persistent challenge to blood safety in China.This article reviews the current epidemic status and transfusion-transmission risks of pathogens such as dengue vi-rus,Zika virus,chikungunya virus,malaria parasites and Toxoplasma gondii.In addition to geographic and climatic fac-tors,increasing global human mobility and ecological changes are intensifying the potential threat of these pathogens to transfusion safety.The special issue on"Transmission of Emerging and Re-emerging Pathogens through Blood Transfusion"includes the latest donor screening studies on the aforementioned pathogens from regions such as Yunnan and Jiangxi.These studies not only provide scientific data for understanding the current prevalence of transfusion-transmitted emerging and re-e-merging pathogens in China,but also highlight the important role of blood banks in blood safety and the surveillance of in-fectious disease epidemics.关键词
