Abstract

In 2024,under the influence of multiple factors such as food crop substitution in the same period,market prices,new technology promotion and policy support,the planting area of foxtail millet and proso millet in China increased slightly,and the planting area of sorghum decreased slightly.Throughout the year,affected by strong market supply,weak demand and expected risks,the price of foxtail millet and sorghum fluctuated frequently and fell sharply after the new grain coming into the market.The import and export of foxtail millet increased significantly,while the import of sorghum increased significantly and the export decreased.The scientific and technological innovation vitality of foxtail millet and sorghum seed industry has gradually enhanced,and the variety iteration has gradually upgraded.It is expected that in 2025,the domestic market risks and opportunities of foxtail millet and sorghum will continue to coexist,the market price is expected to rise after running at a low level for a short period because of the reduction of the planting area,the trend of diversification of consumer demand is obvious,and the modernization level of production is gradually taking shape.Based on this,it was suggested to firmly implement the strategy of expanding domestic demand,developing new quality productive forces,relying on modern large-scale agriculture and coordinating the"five chains"to enable the modern development of the industry,improve industrial competitiveness,and help the high-quality development of the industry.
