Breeding and extension of high-quality holstein replacement bulls in Ningxia region

Abstract
To address the weak competitiveness of China's dairy cattle breeding industry,the underdeveloped breeding system infrastructure in Ningxia,and the limited capacity for independent bull breeding.This study utilized high-quality germplasm resources from Ningxia's elite dairy cattle breeding base and demonstration farms.By applying genomic selection technology,a core population of 2500 heifers was established.Using the Chinese Holstein genomic selection platform,genomic testing and genetic evaluation were conducted on these heifers.The top 500 heifers were selected as a foundation cow nucleus herd and strategically mated with elite domestic and international frozen semen or embryos to produce high-quality replacement bulls.Based on genomic testing and growth performance,superior bulls were retained.The final selected bulls underwent performance testing and progeny validation before large-scale dissemination.A total of 112 elite bulls were precisely bred to suit Ningxia's dairy farming conditions.After rigorous screening,21 bulls were retained for field validation and commercial promotion.This study fully leveraged Ningxia's core dairy cattle population to successfully breed high-performance,genetically superior bulls with independent intellectual property rights.关键词
