Abstract

The strike-slip faults in the deep carbonate rocks in the Shunbei-Shunnan area of the Tarim Basin are well-developed and have significant controlling effect on hydrocarbon accumulation in the Lower Paleozoic carbonate rocks.Carbonate rocks are brittle and tight,and will form a unique structural characteristics under the influence of horizontal strike-slip movements.Based on previous researches,this study focuses on the strike-slip fault system regarding the deep carbonate rocks in the Shunbei-Shunnan area of the Tarim Basin.By utilizing seismic data,core samples,carrying out field outcrop investigations,and employing advanced techniques such as high-resolution three dimensional seismic fault delineation,seismic attribute analysis for fault system identification,conducting physical structural modeling experiments and stress field numerical simulations,this study analyzes the structural characteristics of the strike-slip fault and their main controlling factors.The results reveal that the spatial structure of the strike-slip fault is characterized by"layered deformation in profiles and segmentation along the strike in plane".In plane view,transtensional,transpressional,and vertical segments can be identified,alternating along the main fault.In section view,the faults are divided into deep and shallow system separated by the top interface of the Middle-Lower Ordovician(T74),with the deep and shallow faults vertically superimposed,showing clear layering characteristics.The internal structures of the fault zone can be divided into a"spontaneously sliding fractured zone and induced fracture zone"with significant differences between these two structural units.Multiple phases of tectonic activity,stress distribution,fault activity intensity,lithology,and subsequent cementation and infilling processes all influence the structures of the fault zone.
