Abstract

As a high-quality local genetic resource unique to the Loess Plateau area in northwest China,Jingyuan chicken has formed advantageous traits such as roughage tolerance,meat quality and disease resistance under the synergistic effect of long-term natural selection and artificial directional breeding.Ningxia region has a long history of raising Jingyuan chicken,but the current cross over its purebred rate decreased significantly.Serious breed mixing has led to a series of adverse phenomena such as decreased production performance and poor disease resistance in Jingyuan chickens.This indicates that the decline in purebred rate has had a serious impact on breed characteristics.In this paper,through the combing of its breed characteristics,production performance,genetic resources and the current situation of industrial development.In view of the imperfect breeding system,mixed breeds,insufficient funding,limited investment in scientific research and other issues,it proposes to carry out resource background surveys and genetic evaluation,establish a sound breeding mechanism,strengthen breed purification and re-strengthening,increase financial support,promote genetic resources innovation and other countermeasures and recommendations,which provide an important theoretical basis for the further development and utilisation of Jingyuan chicken genetic resources.
