W波段折叠波导行波管过渡波导结构的设计与分析
Design and analysis of transition waveguide structures in W-band folded-waveguide traveling-wave tubes

Abstract
With the rapid development of radar and communication technology,the demand for folded waveguide traveling wave tubes with W-band and above frequencies is increasing day by day.In these traveling wave tubes,the transition waveguide serves as a key coupling structure between the folded waveguide traveling wave tube and the external circuit,and its design is crucial to the overall performance of the traveling wave tube.In this article,three types of transition waveguides were designed to smoothly transition a folded waveguide with dimensions of 1.90 mm×0.30 mm to a WR-10 standard waveguide(dimensions of 2.54 mm×1.27 mm).Using CST simulation software,three types of transition waveguide structures were compared.The focus of the research is to analyze how these structural and length parameters affect the voltage reflection coefficient(S11)and voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR),in order to optimize the performance of the transition waveguide.The results show that in the frequency range of 80.0 GHz to 110.0 GHz,for the central axis symmetric straight tapered transition waveguide and the plane symmetric straight tapered transition waveguide,the longer the transition waveguide length,the lower the VSWR and S11 at the same frequency,the better the impedance matching,and the higher the system efficiency.However,the performance of the four-step transition waveguide of S11 and VSWR is not like that of the previous two.There is even a situation where the values of VSWR and S11 in a larger range are lower than those when the transition waveguide length is longer when the transition waveguide length is the shortest,and there is no situation where both VSWR and S11 decrease as the length of the transition waveguide increases.In summary,this paper provides an important reference for the design of high-performance folded waveguide traveling wave tubes through the in-depth design and analysis of the W-band folded waveguide traveling wave tube transition waveguide structure,which is helpful to promote the further development of radar and communication technology.关键词
