Abstract
Drawing on archival materials from the Fujian Provincial Archives and Zheng Zuoxin's manuscri-pts,this paper examines Zheng's work at the Department of Biology of Fukien Christian University from 1930 to 1947.This study is original in clarifying the precise titles and publication history of his more than 10 Chinese textbooks,thereby correcting prior inaccuracies;in reconstructing the historical facts concerning biological specimen collection in areas such as Guadun and the publication of the Biological Bulletin of Fukien Christian University;and in systematically elucidating his efforts to localize Western biology through textbook compilation,the operation of academic societies,and popular science practices.During this period,Zheng conducted field ornithological surveys,compiled China's first bird checklist,and developed the department into a distinctive base for biological teaching and research at the time.关键词
