Abstract

To verify the feasibility of measuring the geomagnetic vector field at sea using unmanned surface vehicles(USVs),a measurement experiment was conducted in coastal waters based on an independently developed geomagnetic vector measurement system and a measurement-type USV.Grid and repeated measurement lines were established,and effective measurement data were obtained.After processing the measurement data through carrier magnetic interference compensation,rotation of the geomagnetic vector coordinate system,and geomagnetic diurnal variation correction,the eastward,northward,vertical magnetic field components,and total magnetic field information in the geographic coordinate system were obtained.Following data filtering and survey network adjustment,accuracy evaluation was performed.The internal consistency accuracy of the three magnetic field components and the total field along repeated lines was better than 1.87 nT,2.74 nT,2.97 nT,and 1.50 nT,respectively,while the internal consistency accuracy at cross points was 1.48 nT,2.34 nT,1.67 nT,and 1.17 nT,respectively.This offshore experiment demonstrates that the independently developed USV and geomagnetic vector measurement system can be used for coastal geomagnetic measurements,obtaining high-precision geomagnetic vector field and total field information.
