An Explanation from the Perspective of Land Supply for the Residential Overcrowding of Chinese Urban Migrant Families in the Context of Excess Supply

Abstract
In the context of excess supply in housing,socioeconomic factors from the demand side and the hukou factor from the supply side,as previous literature mentioned,cannot solely alleviate the residential overcrowding of the urban migrant family.From the per-spective of land supply,the paper constructs the conceptual framework for the impact of land supply on residential overcrowding of the urban migrant family,and proposes the empirical explanation in the context of excess supply.It turns out that:(1)Compared to the urban local family,the urban migrant family still suffers more from the residential overcrowding in the stage of housing excess,but the gap between these groups declines than that in the stage of housing shortage;(2)The decline of overcrowding gap between the urban migrant family and local family is due to institutional change of land supply,i.e.,the narrowing effect of people-land link policy and broadening effect of land finance policy;(3)In terms of control variables,the economic factor from demand side and hukou factor from supply side can alleviate the residential overcrowding of the urban migrant family,while such social factor as family size from demand side can worsen that.关键词
