Abstract

To address the shortcomings of existing research on tuned liquid-based passive and active control devices,an active damping net and sloped-bottom tuned liquid damper(ADNS-TLD)based on an improved sliding mode control(SMC)algorithm was proposed.A theoretical mechanical model of the ADNS-TLD-SDOF controlled structural system was established by incorporating the active control force generated by a linear motor actuator and the passive control force provided by the damping-net and sloped-bottom tuned liquid damper(DNS-TLD).In order to verify the accuracy of the theoretical mechanical model and investigate the effectiveness of ADNS-TLD on the damping control of the controlled structure,three single-story steel frame structures with different natural periods of 0.83 s,0.66 s and 0.57 s were fabricated.Several improved SMC algorithms were developed,and 20 natural seismic waves under Class Ⅰ-Ⅳ sites were selected to carry out seismic simulation shaker test research.The experimental results show that the damping performance of ADNS-TLD is significantly enhanced compared to traditional passive control devices with AMD due to the introduction of active control force between the structure and DNS-TLD.The vibration damping performance of DNS-TLD can be increased by more than 40%compared to TLD.Among the improved SMC algorithms,the fuzzy sliding mode control algorithm has optimal engineering applicability due to its low energy consumption and stable performance.The mean absolute percentage error between numerical calculation and experimental results is only 4.533%,which shows a good agreement.ANDS-TLD exhibits good damping control effectiveness under seismic waves of various site categories,and the damping effect of ADNS-TLD improves with the site category.The maximum displacement reduction can reach 90%under seismic waves of category Ⅳ sites,which has good engineering application prospects.
