Effects of dietary cellulase supplementation on production performance,methane emission,and serum biochemical indices of dairy cows

Abstract
The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of adding cellulase to the diet on the production performance,methane production,and serum biochemical indices of dairy cows.Three hundred and fifty dairy cows with similar parity and milk yield were selected and divided into two groups,with five replicates in each group and each replicate consisting of 35 cows.The control group was fed the basal diet,while the experimental group was fed the basal diet supplemented with 15 g of cellulase per cow.The pre-test period was seven days,and the formal test period was 30 days.The results showed that compared with the control group,the average daily dry matter intake of the experimental group was significantly reduced(P<0.05),while the average daily milk production was significantly increased(P<0.05).Methane(CH4)and carbon dioxide(CO2)emissions decreased by 4.45%and 8.31%,respectively.There were no significant differences in the concentrations of glucose(GLU),lipopolysaccharide(LPS),immunoglobulin A(IgA),immunoglobulin G(IgG),and immunoglobulin M(IgM)in the serum between the two groups(P>0.05),though GLU content in the experimental group showed an increasing trend.On the 15th and 30th days of the experiment,the activities of serum glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)and total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),and the content of malondialdehyde(MDA)was significantly reduced(P<0.05).The study shows that adding cellulase to the feed can increase the milk production of dairy cows,reduce CH4 and CO2 emissions from the rumen,and enhance the body's antioxidant capacity.关键词
