Abstract
This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with different levels of ellagic acid on the growth performance,antioxidant capacity,and meat quality of finishing pigs.A total of 100 healthy'Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire'finishing pigs with similar body weight were selected and randomly divided into four groups,with five replicates per group and five pigs per replicate.The control group was fed a basal diet,while the experimental groups were fed the basal diet supplemented with 200,400,and 800 mg/kg ellagic acid,respectively.The pre-test period was seven days,and the formal test period was 60 days.The results showed that regarding growth performance,the final body weight and average daily gain of the 400 mg/kg ellagic acid group were significantly higher than those of the control group and 200 mg/kg ellagic acid group(P<0.05),while the feed-to-gain ratio was significantly lower than that of the control group and the 200 mg/kg ellagic acid group(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the serum total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)in 400 and 800 mg/kg ellagic acid groups was significantly increased(P<0.05),and catalase(CAT)activity was extremely increased(P<0.01).The serum malondialdehyde(MDA)content in the 400 mg/kg ellagic acid group was significantly decreased(P<0.05),and the superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity in each experimental group was significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the muscle SOD activity and T-AOC in 400 and 800 mg/kg ellagic acid groups were extremely increased(P<0.01),and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity was significantly increased(P<0.05).The muscle CAT activity in the 400 mg/kg ellagic acid group was significantly increased(P<0.05)and MDA content was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the muscle pH24h value,meat color redness(a*),and marbling score in 400 and 800 mg/kg ellagic acid groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the shear force was extremely decreased(P<0.01),the drip loss in the 400 mg/kg ellagic acid group was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the muscle crude fat,aspartic acid,arginine,lysine,flavor amino acids,and total amino acid concentrations in 400 and 800 mg/kg ellagic acid groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the muscle cysteine content in the 800 mg/kg ellagic acid group was significantly increased(P<0.05).The study shows that dietary supplementation with ellagic acid can effectively improve the growth performance and meat quality of finishing pigs,enhance the body's antioxidant function,and the comprehensive effect of adding 400 mg/kg is better.关键词
