Metal-organic framework for enzyme immobilization and their applications in functional carbohydrate synthesis

Abstract
As carbohydrate is one of the three essential nutrients of human body,the demand of functional carbohydrates continues to rise due to their specific biological activities and health benefits.Enzymatic catalysis,characterized by its mild reaction conditions,high stereoselectivity,and environmental friendliness,offers a crucial pathway for the green synthesis of carbohydrates.However,this approach is faced with the challenges including high cost,poor operational stability,and difficulties in recovery and reuse.In recent years,metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)have gained significant research interest owing to their properties of high specific surface area,high porosity,stable structure,and functionally customizable properties.Serving as novel carriers for enzyme immobilization,MOFs can effectively enhance enzyme stability,catalytic performance,and recyclability.Herein,we reviewed the current research of functional carbohydrates with regards to their synthesis and specific immobilization,especially the significant role of MOFs in enzymatic catalysis.In the end,we presented the existing issues and challenges for the application of MOFs in enzyme immobilization.关键词
